Classification

- Electric drum: A new type of driving device that places the motor and the reducer inside the drum body, which is often used in fixed and mobile belt conveyors.
 
- According to the size: For large drums, such as those used in papermaking machinery, the length can be more than 10 meters and the diameter can be more than 1500mm. For small drums, such as the flat idlers used in the belt conveyors of automatic assembly lines, they are generally less than 1 meter in length and the diameter is less than 159mm.
 
- According to the function: There are drums that ensure transmission accuracy, such as the drums in digital laser printers; there are drums that play a pressing and filtering role, like the calender rolls in papermaking machinery; there are supporting idlers with relatively low requirements for dimensional accuracy; and there are drums with heat exchange requirements, etc.
 
Materials
 
Stainless steel, cast steel parts, solid forged alloy steel cores, etc. are often used. In addition, aluminum alloy 6061T5, 304L/316L stainless steel, 2205 duplex stainless steel can also be selected. According to requirements, carbon steel galvanized, carbon steel chrome-plated, carbon steel rubber-covered, ABS, etc. can be used.
 
Manufacturing process
 
- Shaft: According to the loading conditions, it can be divided into a mandrel that only bears bending moment (such as the shaft of the redirecting drum group) and a rotating shaft that bears both bending moment and torque (such as the shaft of the driving drum group). The materials are generally rolled or forged carbon steel or alloy steel, and No. 45 steel is commonly used. In special cases where the force is large, alloy steels such as 40 chromium can be used, and it often needs to go through heat treatment or surface strengthening treatment.
 
- Shell skin: The curling should be in the rolling direction of the steel plate. The offset of the joint should not exceed 1 mm. After rubber covering, the longitudinal welds need to be inspected by ultrasonic or X-ray flaw detection. The roundness tolerance should not exceed 0.5. The commonly used materials are Q235 profile steel, etc.
 
Application scenarios
 
It is used for material conveying in industrial production. For example, in the logistics and warehousing industry, various goods are transferred on the drum conveyor. In the textile and printing and dyeing industry, the drum printing machine uses the drum to achieve pattern printing. In family life, the drum washing machine realizes the washing of clothes through the rotation of the drum.
