Basic Concepts
 
The alignment idler is a kind of idler used to correct the deviation of the conveyor belt, with the English name "centring idler". It is widely applied in the field of mechanical engineering, especially in the belt conveyor system.
 
Working Principle
 
When the center line of the idler is not perpendicular to the center line of the conveyor belt, the idler will move forward at a certain angle. There will be a relative sliding speed and friction between the idler and the belt. This frictional force acts on the belt, generating a lateral force, thus achieving deviation correction.
 
Structural Features
 
- Channel-shaped Alignment Idler: It consists of three channel-shaped rollers and two small vertical rollers installed on the upper crossbeam. The lower crossbeam is connected to the intermediate frame, and the upper and lower crossbeam are connected through a rotating shaft. When the deviation is severe, the deviation-preventing vertical rollers can directly prevent and limit the deviation of the conveyor belt.
 
- Conical Alignment Idler: Two conical rollers are respectively installed on their own rotating shafts, and the two rotating frames are synchronized through a connecting rod mechanism. The crossbeam is directly connected to the intermediate frame. By taking advantage of the different diameters at both ends of the conical roller, a speed difference will be generated at the contact between the roller and the belt when the roller rotates, increasing the lateral thrust and realizing deviation correction.
 
- Friction Alignment Idler: The channel-shaped rollers and friction rollers are installed on the upper crossbeam, and the lower crossbeam is connected to the intermediate frame. The upper and lower crossbeams are connected through a rotating shaft. Friction discs are added at both ends of the channel-shaped rollers. When the conveyor belt deviates and contacts the friction discs, the frictional resistance will be increased, thereby increasing the lateral thrust applied to the belt by the idler and enhancing the alignment effect.
